Age 8 to 12
Musical Theatre for children ages 9 – 12
Musical theatre is a mix of both music and drama. This class builds wonderful confidence in children: as well as performing the text and the songs of the annual musical play, they also manage any set and costume changes, giving them a great sense of independence and trust.
Throughout the year, the children learn to work as a group whilst also gaining in confidence as individuals. The acting part of this class includes improvising upon a theme, interpreting and memorising scripts, group and monologue work as well as becoming aware of movement and posture. The end of year play is an original work, composed, written and directed by Gregory Ward and performed in a semi-professional setting at Birr Theatre and Arts Centre. This is a great first experience of the stage for young children.
